Terms

Terms of use

Last updated 28 October 2026.

Licence

Kymelo is free to use. We grant you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable licence to install and use Kymelo on devices you own or control. Apps obtained from the App Store are also subject to Apple's Licensed Application End User License Agreement; apps from Google Play are also subject to the Google Play Terms of Service.

Your media

Kymelo plays files you provide and media from servers you connect. You are responsible for having the right to play, cast, convert or subtitle them. Kymelo does not circumvent copy protection and cannot play DRM-protected streaming content.

Kymelo account

An account is optional. Keep your sign-in details safe; you are responsible for activity on your account. An account can be signed in on up to five devices at a time; you can sign devices out in Account & settings. You can delete your account at any time in the app. We may suspend accounts used to abuse the service or these terms.

Ads and Kymelo Ad-free

The free iOS, iPadOS and Android apps show ads. Kymelo Ad-free is a one-time purchase that removes ads from the Kymelo apps on every device signed in to your Kymelo account (up to five). It is bought through the App Store or Google Play, whose payment, refund and cancellation terms apply; refunds are handled by them. Ad-free is tied to your Kymelo account, not to a single device, and to the store account used to buy it; use Restore purchases to bring it back after reinstalling. It removes ads only and does not change which media Kymelo can play. If we ever stop offering Kymelo, we will keep Ad-free working in the apps you have for as long as they run.

Open-source components

Kymelo includes open-source software under its own licences, listed on the licences page. Nothing in these terms limits your rights under those licences. In particular, for the components licensed under the GNU Lesser General Public License (the playback engine, libmpv-2.dll on Windows), you may modify those components and replace them with your own versions, and you may reverse-engineer Kymelo to the extent needed to debug such modifications.

Generated subtitles and online services

Subtitles generated from audio are produced automatically and may contain mistakes. Optional online services, such as OpenSubtitles, are provided by third parties under their own terms; we are not responsible for their content or availability.

No warranty

Kymelo is provided "as is", without warranty of any kind, to the extent permitted by law. We are not liable for indirect or consequential losses arising from its use. Nothing in these terms limits rights you have as a consumer that cannot be limited by agreement.
