How can we help?
›Windows says “Windows protected your PC”. Is the installer safe?
That SmartScreen notice appears for new downloads that have not built reputation yet. Download Kymelo only from this website, compare the SHA-256 on the download page with the file, then choose More info → Run anyway.
›Do I need an account?
No. Every playback feature works without one. An optional Kymelo account lets one Kymelo Ad-free purchase cover up to five of your devices; you can delete it any time in Account & settings.
›Which files can it play?
Common containers such as MKV, MP4, MOV, WebM and AVI, with H.264, HEVC, AV1, VP9 and MPEG-4 video, and AAC, MP3, FLAC, Opus, Dolby Digital and more for audio. Hardware decoding is used when your graphics card supports the format. DRM-protected files cannot be played.
›How do I get subtitles for a film that has none?
While it plays, press C (or the CC button) and choose Get subtitles. Kymelo can generate them from the audio on your PC; the first time it asks to download a speech model. It recognises about 99 spoken languages and can translate into English.
›Can Kymelo search OpenSubtitles?
Yes, if you turn on “Search OpenSubtitles first” in the subtitles panel and paste your own free API key from opensubtitles.com. It is off by default because it sends a file fingerprint and title to OpenSubtitles.
›How do updates work?
Kymelo checks for a new version shortly after it starts, downloads it in the background and shows “Update ready”. It installs when you click Restart to update, never in the middle of playback.
›Where is my library stored, and how do I remove everything?
In
%LOCALAPPDATA%\Kymelo on Windows. Uninstalling keeps it so a reinstall picks up your history; delete that folder to remove your library, speech models and subtitles completely.›Keyboard shortcuts
Space or K play/pause · ← → or J L seek 10 s · ↑ ↓ volume · M mute · F or F11 fullscreen · S next subtitle · A next audio track · C get subtitles · V picture size · [ ] speed · Ctrl+O open.
Still stuck? Email support@kymeloapp.com. If Kymelo crashed, attaching the newest report from %LOCALAPPDATA%\Kymelo\logs helps a lot.
