Embedded subtitles
Open the subtitle menu during playback. Tracks stored inside the video container appear by language or track label. Select Off to hide them.
External files
Kymelo supports common subtitle files such as SRT, ASS and WebVTT. Keep a subtitle beside the video with a similar filename for easier discovery, or use the subtitle menu to select it manually.
Generate subtitles on your device
On Windows, press C during playback and choose Get subtitles to generate them from the audio. The first time, Kymelo asks before downloading a speech model; the audio itself is processed on your device.
Timing and readability
If dialogue appears too early or late, use subtitle timing controls to add or subtract delay. Styling options can improve size and contrast; elaborate ASS styling may vary by playback engine and platform.
Encoding problems
Garbled characters usually indicate an older text encoding. Converting the subtitle to UTF-8 in a trusted text editor often resolves the issue. Keep an untouched copy before conversion.
Respect copyright
Only download or share subtitle files when you are authorised to do so. Kymelo does not supply films, shows or copyrighted subtitle catalogues.
